  • Web3 partnership structured for the A7FL — bridging US sports culture and the Web3 ecosystem

Case study: Web3 and Wearables Partners / Sponsors for the A7FL

Having recently worked in Web3 recruiting and partnerships, I learned that many ecosystems were looking to partner with sports leagues for things like fantasy, digital collectibles, and fractional team ownership. The network eventually introduced me to the American 7s Football League (A7FL).

After discussions with several ecosystems, we eventually launched our fantasy app in partnership with Hedera (check out some of our team at Hedera’s event at ETH Denver 2025).

What followed was even more serendipity. At GDC in San Francisco, I gave a sports-tech presentation on behalf of the A7FL. Along with a couple helpful sports-focused VCs who made valuable introductions, I also connected with a fellow presenter - the co-founder of a wearable biometrics company.

Over the following months our teams discussed a sponsorship arrangement that placed their product on game-day athletes in the league, alongside QR code displays and branded callouts during matches. The partnership gives them authentic athlete exposure in a growing US sports property, and further establishes the A7FL as a tech-forward league and avenue for discovering new sports technology.

It's a good illustration of how conference presence turns into pipeline, which turns into closed deals.
